Jammu: Army has revamped the entire infrastructure of a remote village in Jammu’s Reasi district in a gesture of acknowledgement for the villagers, who had captured two dreaded terrorists alive in the year 2022.

As per the details, army takeover the project to revamp the village Tuksan village in Mahore Sub Division of Reasi district under operation Sadbhavana to recognize the exemplary courage, patriotism and valor of unarmed villagers, who pinned down two heavily armed Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists including Commander Talib Hussain on 3rd of July 2022 , till arrival of the security forces.

Sharing details, an army officer said that in the last nine months, the army redesigned the village and equipped it with all modern amenities.

“After discussions with panchayat members, army upgraded infrastructural need of village, which included Hi-tech primary health center, Smart school equipped with modern classrooms, play zones for toddlers, open air gym and running stretches for adults and elders, community center, playground etc,” the officer added.

He added various other projects aimed at developing Tuksan Village into a ‘Model Village’ has been taken and dedicated to the villagers which included installation of solar street lamps, up gradation of village road and internal streets, provision of water storage tanks, geysers for hot water arrangements and critical medical equipment for primary health centre.

Expressing gratitude to the army, a local resident Qamar Din said, “Earlier villages lacked proper electricity and due to darkness, there were many cases of man-animal conflict. Now the army provided solar lights, which would definitely help in curbing this menace”.

BDO Mahore said that brave people of the village caught armed terrorists and sent a message that people of Jammu and Kashmir are against terrorism, adding, “If entire population stood-up against terror like people of Tuksan village, the UT will be free from any type of terrorism”.

A Udhampur based defence spokesperson said that security forces not only protect the border but also usher in an environment of harmony. “Army reaffirmed its commitment to eliminate the scourge of terrorism and continued support for overall development of civilians,” he maintained.
