Jammu: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will unveil his comprehensive action plan for a secure Jammu and Kashmir in a high-level meeting being held in New Delhi on Thursday.
The meeting will be held at 3 pm in North Block office of Ministry of Home Affairs, with Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla, J&K police chief Dilbag Singh, along with other senior officers from MHA AND Central Armed Police Forces in the attendance, along with Director Intelligence Bureau Tapan Deka and CRPF Director General SL Thaosen, along with RAW chief and other senior officials of the Centre.
The meeting will discuss a comprehensive action plan for securing Jammu and Kashmir, as has been readied by various security agencies in the past three months, and will approve it for its implementation in the union territory, official sources informed The Dispatch.
Thursday’s meeting will come exactly three months after the Home Minister’s press conference at Raj Bhavan in Jammu, when he had arrived to visit the families of the Dangri terror attack victims, but was not allowed to move towards the border district of Rajouri due to bad weather.
At the press conference, Shah had announced that an action plan for a secure Jammu and Kashmir is being readied to be implemented in three months.
In the coming days, an already elaborative and exhaustive security grid will be further strengthened. A time-bound action plan for a secure Jammu and Kashmir is being readied and will be implemented in next three months, Shah had said.
Thursday’s meeting will discuss the finer nuances of the strategy being readied to be implemented in Jammu and Kashmir, The Dispatch learnt.
A report by a special team constituted to probe all incidents of terrorism that have taken place in Jammu region in the last one-and-a-half year will also be presented to the union Home Minister, officials told The Dispatch.
“A meeting was held on Wednesday, chaired by Union Home Secretary A K Bhalla, where the security situation was discussed in detail,” the officials informed.
Besides the LG and DGP, J&K Chief Secretary Dr Arun Mehta, Home Secretary R K Goyal, and DG CID R R Swain were also present in the meeting, they added.
In Thursday’s meeting, the situation along the Line of Control and International Border, infiltration bids from across the border and attempts to target minority community members are also expected to be discussed at length, the officials said.
A credible source further informed that the meeting would also review the security arrangements made ahead of G20 Working Group on Tourism meeting in Srinagar in May, annual pilgrimage of Shri Amarnath Ji shrine and the ongoing tourist season.
