He asserted that the 30 months deadline under Station Redevelopment Plan has been fixed for the project.
Notably, Jammu Tawi Railway Station received its first train in the year 1970.

Classifying expansion of infrastructure, he revealed that immediate requirement at Jammu Tawi Railway Station is platforms, which are being increased to seven from existing four besides washing lines that are being uplifted to five as presently there are three.
The officer further elaborated that remodelling the washing lines and enhancement of platforms is in full swing whereas under the re-development process, the entire structure of the railway station is being redesigned.
“The design of the structure, which is based on ‘Temple Architect’ as Jammu is popularly known as ‘City of Temples’, is final and the work is in progress on fast track mode,” he said.
The demand of increasing platforms is much higher because of originating and terminating trains in comparison to through trains having a brief halt, adding he stated, “a large structure of elevated concourse is also in the pipeline with shopping mall, eateries, lounge, underground tunnels and other modern facilities to ease smooth boarding by the passengers.”
Both entry and exit points are being separated and a new entry point is also coming up at Narwal, said the officer.
He said that after the completion of the project, entry at railway station will be through concourse and exit will be through FOBs as it will help in catering the rush of passengers.
