Kargil: The union territory is all set to witness Ladakh Literary Conference from March 27 in the Kargil district. The two-day conference will be will be inaugurated by the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brig (Dr) BD Mishra while writers and poets from Leh and Kargil have been invited to participate in the program.
On Thursday, Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council Kargil, Feroz Ahmed Khan chaired a meeting at Council Secretariat to review arrangements for the Conference which was also attended by Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Santosh Sukhadeve, SSP Kargil, Anayat Ali Chowdhary, Deputy Secretary, Ladakh Academy of Art Culture and Languages Kargil, Nazir Hussain and other concerned district officers.
During the meeting, detailed deliberation and discussion were followed regarding various arrangements related to the successful conduct of the two-day conference.
Khan took a detailed assessment of the schedule and suggested necessary changes. He directed to ensure the presence of students and intellectuals at the event will benefit them.
The CEC also directed for strict adherence of time and expected quality presentation from the writers. He directed the concerned departments of MC Kargil, PHE, PDD and the Information Department to make necessary arrangements for smooth conduct of the event.
During the meeting, it was decided to install signboards of the event at major junctions of the town in collaboration with MC Kargil at the earliest. Besides, the police department was directed to ensure the smooth flow of traffic during the conference.
The Health Department was directed to allot a medical team at the venue and the Tourism Department was directed to take responsibility of catering services.
The CEC directed that invitation letters must be sent to all social and religious organizations, public representatives and Councillors in LAHDC.
