Srinagar: In a bid to attract tourists to the valley, J&K Lakes Conservation and Management Authority (LC&MA) in a first-of-its-kind initiative has installed an aerator/fountain inside the Dal Lake which shoots water up to 80 meters high.

An official from the J&K LCMA told that the aerator/fountain called by the name “high jet” apart from being the first-of-its-kind in the valley, also features among the tallest water shooters in the country and has a unique characteristic of shooting up the water to an aerial vertical distance of around 80 metres with a mist.

“The aerator/fountain has been installed near Zabarwan Park Ghat, and with a high jet single nozzle and two pumps, it shoots water up to a height of around 80 meters,” the official said.

According to the officials, the J&K Lake Conservation & Management Authority has completed the “Installation, Testing & Commissioning of Aerators cum fountains”. The aerators have been installed at six locations inside Dal Lake.

The LCMA official further said that the clusters of the aerators have been pre-programmed with different patterns of formations viz high jet, mist formation, and trumpet formation with changing colours which provides breath-taking and scintillating visuals.

As per the details available, the cumulative length of all five clusters is about 500 metres. Each set of clusters is housed with two hundred nozzles on average to build up different pattern formations, creating and adding a unique beauty to the surroundings, besides improving the quality of lake water.

Notably, Lieutenant Governor Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha last week inaugurated the aerator-cum-dancing fountains in the Dal Lake, a project which has been completed by the J&K Lakes Conservation and Management Authority (LC&MA)—(KNO)
