LEH: With an aim to conduct a daily review and assess the implementation of various ongoing works and discuss any challenges that needed to be addressed, Principal Secretary Dr Pawan Kotwal on Wednesday chaired a meeting of all Administrative Secretaries of the Ladakh union territory administration.
The meeting was attended by All Administrative Secretaries; HoD’s; Chief Engineers, and OSD to the Principal Secretary, besides Principal Secretary, Information Technology Department, Sanjeev Khirwar.
In the meeting, Kotwal, who is entrusted with the responsibilities of Health and Medical Education, Forest, and Wildlife, Revenue and Planning Departments discussed with the administrative secretaries a number of issues.
He stressed for identification of deliverables for each department by every Administrative Secretary; follow-up action on issues discussed in the Chief Secretaries Conference, especially on collaboration between higher education and industry to bridge the gap between academia and industry requirements; proposed establishment of Skill India International center in the UT to provide advanced training and education to students; Women’s Empowerment, etc.
To ensure the effective implementation of the plans, the Principal Secretary asked all the Administrative Secretaries to submit an action taken report within a specified timeframe.
Earlier, in the meeting, Principal Secretary, Sanjeev Khirwar shared the deliberations including action points that had emerged at the recently held Chief Secretaries Conference presided by the Prime Minister, the other day.
He emphasized the importance of industries participating in the accreditation of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and ranking, which would help improve the quality of education and skill development in the Union Territory.
Striving for a better, efficient administration, the UT government has taken a number of measures including daily review meetings, and weekly review meetings, the latter being chaired by Umang Narula, Advisor to Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh every weekend.
