Kargil: Chairman/ CEC LAHDC Kargil Feroz Khan on Thursday called upon Director General BRO India and held discussion on several issues such as opening of Zojila Pass in view of the onset of holy month of Ramzan, and developmental projects.
During the discussion the DG BRO apprised the CEC Kargil that instructions have already been passed to Chief Engineer project Vijayak & Beacon for the early opening of the Zojila Pass and weather permitting the pass will be opened by Mid-March.
CEC Khan appreciated BRO for keeping Zojila Pass open till Jan 6 and restoring all major roads despite heavy snowfall. He said that early opening of Zojila is necessary in view of oncoming holy month of Ramzan as it will provide huge relief to the stranded passengers.
The CEC requested for early completion of Kargil-Batalik road besides sanctioning of up-gradation of Khangral-Sanjak road. He also took up engagement of maximum numbers of local labours in BRO workforce citing their acquaintance to the climate & terrain conditions.
He also expressed gratitude to GoI for sanctioning of the Shinkun La Tunnel and hoped for its early completion.
