Doda: Continuing its war against the drug menace under operation “SANJEEVANI”, Police Party of Police Station Doda while on routine Naka/checking duty near Akramabad on Doda-Bhagwah Road, observed suspicious movement of one person who was coming towards Doda town by foot from Bhagwah side with a bag carried by him. The police party on getting suspicious about the movement of the said person, intercepted him and on questioning he disclosed his name as Isaq Ahmed son of Shamas Din Khawaja resident of Broon Bhagwah. While conducting his personal search heroin like substance concealed by him in the polythene pouch was recovered from his possession which was being taken by him for selling purpose among the youth.
In this connection, case FIR No.260/2022 under relevant section has been registered at PS Doda and investigation of the case has been set into motion. The forward/backward links of the drug peddler are being ascertained during investigation.
In place to mention here that during the current year so far Doda Police has registered (42) FIRs against (49) persons for their involvement in drug peddling. Two notorious and repeated offenders under NDPS Act have been booked under PSA (PITNDPS). Apart from that (29) drug peddlers taken into preventive custody and lodged in Jail.
Doda Police has also taken stringent action against Chemist Shops for selling banned drugs and so far license of (04) Chemist Shops at Bhaderwah, Khellani (Doda), Bhalla and Kahara (Gandoh) got suspended for selling banned drugs and identification of such more Chemist Shops is also in pipeline for getting their licenses suspended.
