Leh, Dec 03: District Election Office, Leh as a part of Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) activity organised a two-day (3-4 Dec) Special Camp at Eliezer Joldan Memorial College, Leh regarding Special Summary Revision of Photo Electoral Roll w.r.t January 01, 2023 as the qualifying date.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Leh Sonam Chosjor who is also the Electoral Registration Officer, 1 Ladakh was present as the chief guest. Assistant Electoral Registration Officer, Leh; Nodal Officer, SVEEP Leh; College faculty and other concerned officials, students and public were present on the occasion.
ERO Sonam Chosjor briefed about the Special Summary Revision of Photo Electoral Roll w.r.t January 01, 2023 as the qualifying date and also the other three qualifying dates of April 01, 2023, June 01, 2023 and October 01, 2023 proposed by the Election Commission of India for advance registration of eligible voters which will be considered and decided in the respective quarter with reference to respective qualifying dates.
Stressing the importance of franchise rights in a democratic system, ERO Chosjor urged the eligible voters to enroll themselves in the electoral roll. He added that the target population of above 18 years are centered mainly in Colleges and Higher Secondary Schools and therefore the special drive was organised at EJM College to enroll maximum eligible voters.
As per Election Commission of India, two Saturdays and Sundays i.e. 26th and 27th November and 3rd and 4th December are fixed as Special Campaign dates for all the polling stations of 1-Ladakh Parliamentary Constituency to exercise Special Summary Revision.
District Election Office, Leh appeals to all the stakeholders to participate in the revision exercise at their respective polling stations to enroll or seek changes in their electoral roll details.
