Leh: To review the progress and strengthen the ongoing National Gender Campaign, Deputy Commissioner, Leh, Shrikant Suse convened a meeting with all the stakeholder departments today.
The meeting held deliberations to integrate all the women centric initiatives and schemes of different department and organize a block-level workshops and campaigns to raise awareness regarding ‘Elimination of Gender-based Violence’ as a part of the observation of the month-long National Gender Campaign (Nov 25- Dec 23).
DC Leh appointed Block Development Officers (BDOs) as the nodal officer to coordinate the sensitization programme at the block level with the participation of all the stakeholder departments, such as Health, Police, Social Welfare, ICDS, Legal Services, Aadhar, Education and Banks. He also instructed the Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs) to supervise and monitor the programme and ensure the participation of all public representatives and villagers and to invite prominent women from the respective blocks.
Discussing the action plans, the meeting decided to chalk out a combined block-wise schedule to organize an effective campaign apart from the ongoing panchayat-level awareness programmes organised by the Rural Development Department.
