Leh: Ladakh Ski and Snowboard Association have been conferred with the ‘Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puruskar’ for the year 2022 by the President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu. The award was received by coach Sadiq Ali.
The Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Radha Krishna Mathur congratulated the Association for getting recognition at the National level for promoting winter sports in Ladakh. “Congratulations for this honourable acknowledgement for their contribution in promoting winter sports in Ladakh”, tweeted the LG.
The award is conferred to the Association for promoting winter tourism in Ladakh, especially Snow Ski. The Association is working in the field since 2012 providing opportunities for youth in Ladakh to participate in National and International level championships.
The Association is focusing on infrastructural development and procurement of sports equipment which is expensive and not easily affordable for individuals.
