GDC Kargil organizes awareness programme on World AIDS Day

Kargil: Red Ribbon Club and Unnat Bharat Abhiyan Unit GDC Kargil today organized an awareness program on ‘World AIDS Day’ themed ‘Ending Inequality and Eliminating AIDS’ which was attended by faculty members and students of the college.

Dr. Javed Mohammad Iqbal, Senior Assistant Professor presented a detailed power presentation on the current situation of HIV and AIDS around the globe, especially in India. He threw light on steps being taken to combat the deadly disease by international organizations in general and the Government of India in particular.

On the occasion, Dr. Azra Khatun, Assistant Professor English, presented a talk on women, girls and HIV/AIDS adding that women and girls are vulnerable to get infected. Shujat Ali Mir, Coordinator Red Ribbon Club, presented vote of thanks while Gulzar Hussain, Coordinator Unnat Bharat Abhiyan conducted program proceedings.

World AIDS Day, designated on 1 December every year since 1988, is an international day dedicated to raising awareness of the AIDS pandemic caused by the spread of HIV infection and mourning those who have died of the disease.
