Leh: Rural Development Department, Leh organised a consultative workshop addressing Gender-based violence at the Community Hall of Spituk today in the presence of the chief guest Chairperson, Block Development Council, Leh.
The workshop is part of the month-long National Gender Campaign (Nov 25- Dec 23) launched on International Day for Elimination of Violence against Women. The RDD Leh has prepared a month-long schedule for addressing gender-based violence and spreading awareness on gender equality as a part of the of National Gender Campaign in and around Leh blocks.
All the speakers highlighted the need for spreading awareness of gender-based violence and discrimination, the legal framework and mechanism available for victims of gender discrimination, being gender sensitive and bringing changes in the embedded societal differences based on gender.
SHO and Dy SHO, Women Police Station, Leh; Dr Nurboo Angchuk, SNM Hospital, Leh; BDO, Leh; Headmaster, Govt Primary School, Spituk; PRI members of all the seven halqa panchayat of Leh block and staff of BDO Leh attended the programme.
