Leh: The District Water and Sanitation Mission (DWSM) teams of Leh and Kargil led by respective District Commissioners were today felicitated by Secretary, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation (DDWS) for achieving first and second position respectively in Jal Jeevan Survekshan-2023 in Achievers Category of ‘Fast Moving Districts’.
The felicitation ceemony was held during the ‘Conference of District Collectors on Jal Jeevan Survekshan (JJS)- 2023 and Swachh Survekshan Grameen (SSG)-2023’ held today through online mode.
Director JJM Pradeep Singh made a presentation on Jal Jeevan Survekshan 2023 and announced the score card and rankings of states for the month of October 2022. Thereafter, felicitation was held for ‘Best Performing Districts’ and ‘Fastest Moving Districts’.
The DWSM team of Leh was led by District Commissioner, Shrikant Balasaheb Suse. Member Secretary Mohammad Ali along with other team members also remained present. Whereas, the DWSM team of Kargil was led by District Commissioner, Santosh Sukhadeve and accompanied by Member Secretary Mohd Hassan Lone and other team members. The efforts of both the teams were applauded as they were working hard under the extreme climatic and topographical conditions and achieving their targets.
During the conference, Vini Mahajan, Secretary, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Department Drinking Water and Sanitation, spoke on the importance of providing safe drinking water in every rural household on a regular basis. She added that both Jal Jeevan Mission and Swachh Bharat Mission are working rigorously to achieve the SDG goals.
It is pertinent to mention here that to inculcate health competition among the districts, Jal Jeevan Survekshan 2023 was launched by the VP Secretariat. Under the Survekshan, top performing districts are recognized on a monthly and quarterly basis.
