Interactive sessions held on day-3 of “Drug De-addiction and Special rights for women’ workshop

UDHAMPUR, NOVEMBER 18: The second day of the 3-day workshop on “Drug De-addiction and Special rights for women” organized by Red Ribbon Club (RRC) and NSS unit of Government College for Women Udhampur in collaboration with J&K AIDS Control Society, witnessed an interactive and technical sessions.

In the morning session, Devika Sharma, Drug de-addiction Counselor, Police Drug-De-Addiction Centre District Police Line Udhampur (Resource person), enlightened the participants about the present situation of drug use as well as abuse in the society. She discussed various drug abuse case studies related to Udhampur district. She motivated the students to come out and share if any one of them or their known happens to suffer from drug addiction. The Drug de-addiction Counselor said that drug addiction is   just a disease like other diseases and it is fully curable through the use of counseling and related medicines. She advised the students to spread the message on drug de-addiction among the general masses as students are the ambassadors of the society.

Meanwhile Afia Nazir from Special Cell for Women and Children, Udhampur gave a brief lecture on the special rights of women in the Indian constitution. She also discussed how to implement these rights in various women related issues like sexual harassment, eve teasing, domestic violence, dowry, harassment at workplace, discrimination etc.

In the evening session, two motivational movies one related to drug de-addiction and other related to special rights for women were screened during the workshop.

Besides, counseling and technical session were also conducted  simultaneously by the Special Cell for Women and Drug de-addiction Counselor, Police Drug-De-Addiction Centre, District Police Line Udhampur.  During the technical session, the students had a healthy discussion with the resource persons on the subject. As many as 183 students of the college attended the workshop.

The proceedings of the programme  were conducted by Convener RRC, Dr. Kewal Kumar.

Dr. Seema Sharma,  Kewal Kumar,  Ashni Devi,  Parmjeet Singh,  Yash Paul,  Tania Akhter,  Roopa Kumari, Dr. Shaveta Sharma,  Robina Kouser, Dr. Sanjay Kumar,  Yash Kumar, renowned theatre artist  Neeraj Kant Sharma were also present on the occasion.
