Leh, November 16: The Principal Secretary, Forest, Ecology and Environment, Dr.
Pawan Kotwal chaired a meeting to review the progress of important developmental
projects of Forest, Ecology and Environment, at the Civil Secretariat, Leh.
In the meeting officials of the forest department apprised the Principal Secretary that
Detailed Project Reports for setting up of Animal Rescue Centres in Leh and Kargil
are in the process. He was informed that an Animal Care Centre in Drass is also
being proposed under CAMPA.

Detailed discussions took place on the Compensatory Afforestation Fund
Management and Planning Authority (CAMPA) project proposal. CAMPA is meant to
promote afforestation and regeneration activities as a way of compensating for forest
land diverted to non-forest uses.
