Jammu, Oct 3 :- To give fillip to the tourism sector, the Directorate of Jammu Tourism is set to give special focus on adventure tourism across the region and as a part of the exercise, special hot air balloon training camp was organised on Monday here in the grounds of the Government Gandhi Memorial Science College in the city heart.
The camp was organised by the Indian Institute of Skiing and Mountaineering (IISM), Gulmarg, Ministry of Tourism, Government of India in collaboration with Jammu Tourism Department.
IISM official, Col J S Dhillon said, “two training courses of adventure tourism are to be organised to develop Jammu as adventure tourism destination.”
“We are grateful to the IISM for selecting Jammu for the camp because this region has a huge potential for adventure tourism,” Vivekananda Rai, Director Tourism, Jammu said on the sidelines of the hot air balloon training camp.
He was flanked by Joint Director, Sunaina Mehta.
Adventure tourism will soon become an essential part of the calendar of activities, said Rai, adding, “the youth of Jammu region will be trained in special camps and will also be engaged in adventure sports activities.”
“Adventure based activities will be given a boost to woo tourists and for fillip to the tourism sector in Jammu region,” said the Director.
In future endeavours, foothills are to be promoted for trekking, air sports including hot air balloons, paramotoring, para jumping, paragliding and many such adventurous happenings will be introduced.
