Katra/Jammu Oct 03 :- Today is the Ashtami date of Sharadiya Navratri. It is known as Durgashtami and Maha Ashtami. On this occasion, the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha reached the court of Mata Vaishno Devi today. He worshiped Mata Vaishno Devi and prayed to Maa Bhagwati for the happiness, prosperity and happiness of all the citizens of Jammu and Kashmir. He also extended warm wishes to all the people of the state on the auspicious occasion of Durga Ashtami.
Today is the eighth day of Shardiya Navratri which started from 26th September. Today, on the eighth day, the festival of Mahashtami is being celebrated. Ashtami date has special significance for the worship of Goddess. Worship, fasting and chanting have special significance on this day. The worship of girls on Ashtami Tithi has special significance. Apart from this, fasting is kept on Navami Tithi.
Durga Ashtami and Navami Tithi have special significance on the festival of Navratri. On the eighth day of Navratri, there is a law to worship Maa Mahagauri, the eighth form of Mother Shakti, and on this day girl worship is done.
