Leh, Oct 01: Under the banner of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the Department of Political Science of Eliezer Joldan Memorial College, Leh today organised a debate competition on the theme “India@75: Women Empowerment: Is it a myth or a Reality?”.
Four teams comprising two speakers each took part in the competition in which they spoke for and against the motion. The judges for the competition were Assistant Professors: Samina Rehman, Dr Disket Wangmo, Hajira Bano and Dr Sonam Wangmo.
Team B speakers Stanzin Norboo and Tenzin Paljor were declared winners of the competition while, Zomskit Dolma and Sonam Angmo of Team C were declared runner-ups.
The winning team received a cash price of Rs 2000 and the runner-ups were awarded a cash price of Rs 1000. A Certificate of Participation was awarded to all the speakers of the competition.
The programme was started with a welcome speech by Assistant Professor Rinchen Angmo followed by a briefing on the rules and regulations of the competition. It concluded with a vote of thanks presented by Dr Shah Niwaz. The whole event was hosted by Sonam Yangdol, a student of 3rd Semester.
