Jammu Sep 22 :- Under the waiver scheme in Jammu and Kashmir, electricity consumers will have to pay bills in 12 instalments. Electricity connection will be disconnected if 100% payment is not made. The consumer will not get the benefit of the scheme. Action will be taken under the Electricity Act 2003 for non-payment of installments. Bills will have to be paid in total fixed installments only. Bills that come after March 2022 will be filled in the routine. Penalty will also be imposed for non-payment of bill.

Shiv Anant Tyal, MD, Electricity Corporation (Distribution), said that the payment can be made through bank counters, Khidmat Kendras and Bharat Bill Pay App. Information about the amount to be deposited along with arrears, interest waiver will be mentioned in the bills. The scheme has come into effect from 12 September. Earlier consumers were not able to pay more bills. So the interest kept increasing. Now the interest has been waived off.
