Srinagar, Sep 5 :- Jammu and Kashmir Projects Construction Corporation (JKPCC) Limited employees have urged Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to release their pending salaries as lives of thousands of workers are at stake.

The JKPCC employees claimed that they are without salaries for the past four months and could not even pay the tuition fee of their children.

“Our employees are facing miserable conditions as salaries are pending from past three months and our children are threatened by school authorities over nonpayment of school fee,” the president of Workers Union, JKPCC, Kashmir Masood Ahmad said.

He said the employees cannot even manage transportation charges from home to reach office as the financial condition has turned pathetic due to nonpayment of salaries.

“..The delayed salaries with no work entrusted to JKPCC from other departments have put employees into great distress and they are facing uncertainty,” he said.

The efforts to reach JKPCC officials failed.

The JKPCC was established in 1965 with the sole aim for construction of mega projects in J&K and it took all the construction works of bridges, hospital, schools, colleges and gutted infrastructure during the turmoil.

The Corporation has a sanctioned strength of 1,305 posts against which they are at present providing employment to about 730 number of employees besides almost 1,194 number of daily wagers / casual labour and is equally providing indirect employment to hundreds & thousands of contractors directly / indirectly.
