Jammu Aug 17:- The police on Tuesday busted a fake SIM card vendor racket by arresting five persons including one subscriber for selling SIM cards by preparing false documents in the bordering Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir.
“Acting on a tip off that some persons are involved in fraudulent selling of sim cards by way of preparing false documents, forging identity related papers & records and are dishonestly issuing SIM cards against one single photo to different persons with IDs in Bari Brahmana area, police took action” Police spokesman from Samba said on late Tuesday evening.
He said, “The vendors knowingly were selling SIM cards fraudulently with corrupt and criminal intentions.”
He added that a case was registered and investigation has started.
During the course of investigation, a team of PS Bari-Brahmana has summoned various persons for questioning in which two vendors, two agents and one subscriber/ compliance were found involved.”
“Parveen Kumar of Palli -Bari Brahmana; Parveez of Rajpur Khullar Bari Brahmana; Ravinder Singh of Bari Brahmana, Samba; Ashker Ali of Rajpur Khullar, Bari Brahmana, Samba and Sheetal Kumar of Data Talab, Bari Brahmana, Samba have been arrested.”
Police asid, “Accordingly arrest has been made under section 465/468/471/419/420 IPC for their involvement in issuing fake SIM cards by using forged documents, by way of impersonation for wrongful gain and seized one Driving licence, two election cards, one CPU from their possession which were used for issuing false document. “The role of other officials of Bharti Airtel, Vodafone idea and Reliance Jio officials is also under scrutiny” police said.
