Jammu Aug 12 :- In Jammu and Kashmir, 63 per cent of the population is below 35 years of age. Today the youth of the state are making the country proud at the national and international level. Apart from medicine, science, sports, art or education, youth are proving their talent in every field. 39-year-old wrestling coach Sahil Sharma is shaping the future of youth by giving free coaching. Sahil has been the coach of the Indian women’s wrestling team for the Commonwealth Games.
Under Sahil’s coaching, the women’s wrestling team has won six medals. This includes two gold, one silver and three bronze medals. Sahil Sharma had prepared for the Commonwealth Games by coaching Sakshi Malik, Vinesh Phogat, Pooja Sihag, Pooja Gehlot.
Sahil Sharma hails from Shalamar, Jammu. He learned the tricks of wrestling from the Bajrangi Akhara located in Shalamar. Sahil said that wrestling started from this arena. He said that if I do not stay in any coaching camp with the Sports Authority of India, then I give free coaching to young players in the arena. Let me tell them about the international standard of wrestling. Wrestling is a very popular sport and the youth of our state have so much potential that they can bring medals to the country like the players of Haryana.
He said that the attitude of the government regarding wrestling in the state is disappointing. We have neither trainers nor sports equipment. If the government pays attention to this, then we can get international players from this game.
The youth of the state are waving their flag in various fields. In cricket, Umran Malik has impressed everyone with his talent at the international level. He also holds the record for the fastest bowler in the country.
International player Bavleen Kaur has made the state proud in gymnastic sport. Bavleen represented the country in the Commonwealth Games. In the field of education too, the youth of the state are proving their talent. Tanmay Gupta, who secured first position in NEET exam, also hails from Jammu.
