Jammu, Aug 12: District Congress Committee, Jammu Rural, today launched the ‘Tiranga Yatra’ to mark the 75 years of Independence of the country at Jammu North Assembly segment.

The programme was organised by Uday Bhanu Chib, President J&K Pradesh Youth Congress in in which sh Mula Ram, former minister and Vice President JKPCC was the Chief Guest while Th Manmohan Singh, General Secretary, Rajneesh Sharma, Hari Singh Chib President DCC Jammu Rural were also present.

Talking to reporters, Mula Ram said that the Congress, unlike the Bharatiya Janata Party or any other political party in the country, had a great and glorious history of sacrifice for the national Tricolour. Taking a dig at the BJP’s claims over nationalism, the former minister said, the BJP has a lot to learn from the Congress on the issue of nationalism. “They are no comparison to us when it comes to watching and safeguarding the national interest and our leaders have laid down their lives for nationalism, both before and after the independence of the country,” he said.

Th Manmohan Singh, General secretary PCC and Rajneesh Sharma Treasurer JKPCC criticised NDA Government for hike of prices of essential commodities and increase of unemloyment rate in the country and particularly in Jammu and Kashmir which is highest in India.

Hari Singh Chib, President DCC Jammu Rural condemned all those forces which ‘were trying to again vitiate the peaceful atmosphere of the state by resorting to divisive tactics”, which have otherwise already been rejected by the people of Jammu and Kashmir time and again. He held the hollow policies of BJP led government at the Centre responsible for economic slowdown, unemployment and unbridled inflation. He said the woes and miseries of the common man today are attributed to the wrong policies of the BJP Government at the Centre.

Uday Chib, President JKPYC said that this Tiranga Yatra was conducted with a view to remind the people of the country about the struggles and sacrifices made by the Congress leaders and workers to get India’s Independence from the British rule. He said that the unemployment and the prices have increased tremendously in the last eight years and now by imposing GST on food products the government has broken the back of common man.

Uday assured that the Congress and its leaders will never hesitate in giving their life and blood for safeguarding the unity and the integrity of the country and to ensure communal harmony and brotherhood in the state. “We have done it in the past and we will not hesitate in the future either to safeguard peace, harmony, brotherhood and unity and integrity of the country”, he asserted.

Among those who joined the Trianga Yatra include Uttam Singh Chib, Som Nath Sharma, Block President Janipur Block, Baghi, Surinder Kumar, Rishab and Pankaj Sharma Ward Presidents; Sunny Jatt Assembly Youth President; Jagdesh Kumar and Vimal Pandita General Secretaries District Urban, Rajinder Kumar Happy, Parshotam Singh, Ayush, Gyan Chand, Kamal Singh, Jung Bahadur Singh, Madan Singh, Ganesh Kumar, Rishu, Divyansh Jamwal, Manav Choudhary, Happy Randhawa, Ashok Chib, Pummy, Jaswant Singh, Surinder Singh, Tarun Vaid, Virender Mehta, Jagdish Sharma, Shahbaj Khan, Baloria Sahib, Parshotam Kumar Sat Chib, Mahan Singh Manhas, Kuldeep Singh Gity and Choudhary Gama.
