New Delhi Aug 11 :- Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday took a jibe at Congress leaders protesting in black clothes on August 5 and said that those who believe in “black magic” will never earn the trust of people.
“Some people are resorting to black magic as they are immersed in despair and negativity. We saw on August 5 that there was an attempt to propagate black magic. These people think that by wearing black clothes, their period of despair will end,” the Prime Minister said.
He added that resorting to “black magic or superstitions” won’t earn them the trust of the people.
The Prime Minister was referring to the “black protest” by Congress last week when party leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi, sported black clothes to protest against the government.
The protests were held over issues such as price rise, hike in GST on essential items and unemployment.
While the male Congress MPs were seen sporting black kurtas, shirts, scarves, and headgears, the women leaders also wore black sarees or suits. Party chief Sonia Gandhi wore a printed crisp saree with a black border and a black blouse.
Dedicating the second-generation ethanol plant worth Rs 900 crore in Panipat, the Prime Minister also attacked certain opposition parties for engaging in politics of freebies, saying such things would only do a disservice to the nation as it hampers investment in new technology.
