Jammu Aug 09 :- The Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, remembered the sacrifices of the martyrs of Karbala on the occasion of Ashura on the 10th day of Muharram 2022.
In his message, the Lieutenant Governor said, “The martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain and his companions has directed humanity to strive for justice, values and righteousness.” The Lt Governor prayed for peace and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir and urged the people to work for the needy and downtrodden.
Muharram is the month of sorrow and mourning, which is celebrated by the followers of Islam. According to the Islamic calendar, Muharram is the first month of Islam. That is, Muharram is the beginning month of the new year of Islam or Hijri year. Muharram is celebrated 20 days after the festival of Bakrid. This time the month of Muharram has started from 31st July. In such a situation, Ashura or Muharram will be celebrated on 8 or 9 August. This month is very important for the people of Islam, because in this month the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain took place. Hazrat Imam Hussain was the younger grandson of the founder of Islam, Hazrat Muhammad. In memory of his martyrdom, on the tenth day of the month of Muharram, people celebrate as mourning, which is also known as Ashura.(AGENCIES)
