Leh Aug 06 :- Buddhist religious leader Dalai Lama was on Friday honored with the prestigious 6th Ladakh Pal Nagam Duston Award of Ladakh on Ladakh Declaration Day. Ladakh Declaration Day was celebrated amidst cultural presentations in a grand ceremony held at the historic Indus Ghat in Leh. Buddhist religious leader 14th Dalai Lama was given this honor for his contribution towards Ladakh and humanity.

The Dalai Lama said that the Indus river connects Ladakh and Tibet with religious and cultural parallels. The religious leader said that climate change is a matter of concern, regarding which everyone has to make their behavior eco-friendly.

Earlier in the ceremony, Advisor to Ladakh Lt Governor Umang Narula said that for Himalayan Buddhists, the religious leader is a living Buddha. He has given the message of world peace, harmony and love. The Ladakh Administration expresses its gratitude for the religious leader accepting the prestigious award of Ladakh. Narula said that after the abrogation of Article 370, Ladakh was made a union territory. Now there is rapid development here.

The infrastructure development is being done with the protection of environment and culture. In the coming days, Ladakh will become a carbon neutral state. At the same time, Ladakh MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal and Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council Leh Tashi Gyalsan described the religious leader’s visit to Ladakh as an important occasion. He said that he would try his best to follow the path shown by the religious leader.
