EC Mubarak Shah assesses damage in flood-affected areas of Kargil town

Kargil Jul 30 :- Executive Councilor Works, LAHDC, Kargil Mubarak Shah Nagvi today visited several flood-affected areas of Kargil town including Titi Chumik and Baroo to take stock of the situation and damage caused by flash floods besides measures being taken by the administration for relief and rehabilitation.

Executive Engineers of R&B, Mechanical Division, I&FC, PDD, Tehsildar Kargil Block besides other concerned officers accompanied the EC during the tour.

EC Mubarak Shah conducted an extensive tour of flood-affected villages and took a first-hand appraisal of the situation, extent of damages and ongoing relief and rehabilitation measures for the affected families.

He also took stock of damages to irrigation land, canals and kuls, standing crops, trees, roads and residential houses. Shah also interacted with the locals and gave a patient hearing to their grievances and issues in the aftermath of flood situation.

The EC instructed the concerned officers to speed up the process of assessment of damages in coordination with PRI members and ensure restoration plan at the earliest.

At Titi Chumik EC Nagvi took an assessment of the damage caused to residential houses, shops, factories, irrigation and kuls.

The EC directed to immediately restore the major and minor irrigation kuls and speed up the works of protection wall for the Nallah where ever needed. He further directed to complete the debris clearance works by Monday.

He also visited Baroo Khankah and took an assessment of damage to crops, houses, schools and link road. He directed to restore the link road and Primary School building at the earliest.

The EC directed the concerned officer to assess damage to crops and fields and said assessment regarding damage caused to trees will be done by the concerned department at the earliest.
