Leh, May 31: The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, RK Mathur, today attended the Garib Kalyan Sammelan in which the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, interacted with the public to get direct feedback about the various welfare programmes being run by the government, at Sindhu Sanskriti Kendra (SSK) today. Chairman, LAHDC Leh, Adv Tashi Gyalson and Member of Parliament, Ladakh, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, were among the guests present during the interaction session.

LG Mathur stated that the objective of organising Garib Kalyan Sammelan is to inform that the government is focused and committed to the welfare of the poorest people. He also shared that the target of the UT Administration and both Hill Councils is to target saturation coverage of all the central government welfare schemes in Ladakh in the current financial year so that the people of Ladakh can benefit. He further stated that the government is strongly focused on the upliftment of the poorest sections of society.

LG Mathur stated that the Hon’ble Prime Minister has repeatedly emphasised on the implementation of these schemes on the ground, covering 100 per cent population without any discrimination. Speaking about the prevalence of the ‘pick and choose’ system before the formation of Ladakh as a Union Territory, LG Mathur stated that his focus is on the entire population of Ladakh and not on any particular group. He thanked the Hon’ble Prime Minister on the behalf of the people of Ladakh for his vision and initiative of saturation coverage of flagship schemes to the poorest sections of the society.

LG Mathur said that the entire country is celebrating the completion of eight years of the government led by Prime Minister Modi and also the efforts of the government to provide benefits to the people under various flagship schemes. He emphasised that the government, UT Administration and both Hill Councils are committed to working for the welfare of the poor along with the overall progress of the region to achieve Ladakh of the dreams of its people.

LG Mathur interacted with the beneficiaries from Ladakh who availed benefits of various schemes such as Jal Jeevan Mission, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana- Urban and Rural, Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Street Vendor’s Atma Nirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi), etc.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually interacted with Tashi Tundup from Skampari who availed the benefit of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY)-Urban. PM Modi appreciated the sacrifices made by him earlier as a serviceman and said that the government is committed to working for the welfare of people like him.

Earlier, Chairman, LAHDC Leh, Adv Tashi Gyalson and MP Ladakh Jamyang Tsering Namgyal highlighted the achievements in Ladakh, including Leh district, in all the sectors after the formation of Ladakh as a Union Territory.

Videos on various flagship schemes being implemented in Ladakh were screened during the event.

Executive Councillors and Councillors, LAHDC Leh; Advisor Ladakh; Chairpersons of Block Development Councils; Principal Secretary/Commissioner Secretaries and Administrative Secretaries; Deputy Commissioner, Leh; Sarpanch/ Panch/Nambardar of various villages; senior officials, district officials and beneficiaries were present during the interaction session.
