Jammu May 31 :- Former MLC & JK UT spokesperson of BJP Girdhari Lal Raina strongly condemned yet another disastrous, agonizing, tragic and inhuman act an innocent life of a Hindu school teacher was snatched prematurely by terrorists in the Kulgam district. Rajni Bhalla, the victim was from SC community and belonged to Samba District in Jammu. His only fault, like that of Rahul Bhat and scores of other victims, was her identity –religious and civilizational, he said.
Lashing out at opposition leaders GL Raina said that Some leaders continue to issue customary and simultaneously communalised narrative by drawing agenda driven conclusions and issuing provocative statements like “India’s Muslims are an Increasingly Marginalized Population”. These leaders speak eloquently about diversity & pluralism in the country terming it as “Our national strength,” but they fail to play a constructive role in protecting and preserving diversity in Kashmir- their so-called stronghold, he added. Some of these leaders have complained in the past about their inability to prevent Hindu exodus in 1989-90 due to their detention. But now when they are free their role in protecting innocent lives particularly of religious minorities is as suspicious, hollow and routine, he opined.
Raina also criticised the Administration saying they can’t escape its share of responsibility. How can they otherwise justify sneaking in of armed terrorists into a school when it is common knowledge that minorities are soft targets once again. It is public knowledge that minority community is an identified soft target for terrorist. What are the measures that the administration took to protect these innocent lives? What was done on ground after brutal assassination of Rahul Bhat just 20 days back, He asked? Administration cannot take undue advantage of economic compulsions of these families and treat these helpless employees as dispensable objects.
I myself and the community as a whole has been updating higher-ups in UT administration about deliberate endeavours of certain officers to make minority community employees more susceptible to attacks by posting them in vulnerable areas. Repeated memoirs have been continuously ignored.
Explaining that Experts tell us that the time between selecting a soft target and actual execution of a plan is enough to suspect the possibility of an attack as it is impossible to hit any target; a) without reiki and b) involvement of local support. Ex-MLC demanded a high level enquiry into security lapses and other issues related to minority community in Kashmir valley along with immediate remedial measures. Truth must come out.
