Leh, May 31: The Department of Animal Husbandry, Leh launched a vaccination programme/drive against Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) under the centrally sponsored scheme (CSS) of the National Animal Disease Control Program (NADCP) to cover the entire bovine population of Leh district.

The FMD vaccination drive was launched in the presence of Executive Councillor, Animal/Sheep Husbandry, LAHDC, Leh, Tashi Namgyal; Secretary, Animal/Sheep Husbandry, UT Ladakh, Ravinder Kumar; Director, Animal/Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries Department, UT Ladakh, Dr Mohd Raza and Incharge Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Leh, Dr Stanzin Rabgais.

The FMD vaccination drive would commence from June 1 at all the blocks covering the entire bovine population within 45 days.

The Animal Husbandry Department urges all livestock breeders to cooperate in vaccinating their livestock against Foot and Mouth Disease.
