Doda, March 30: Forest Department on Wednesday distributed Solar Lights, farming tools and sewing machines among the people living in the jurisdiction of Siraj and Kuntwara Village Forest Committees.

The FDA Chairman (Conservator Forest Chenab Circle) Dr. Jatinder Singh distributed the Articles among the villagers under Green India Mission at a function held in Forest Complex Doda.

The Green India Mission envisages restoration of degraded areas as well as extending handholding to local people to earn their livelihood and minimize their dependence on the Forests. Hundreds of people thronged the forest complex Doda to attend the function. Green India Mission is a five year program and was launched in the financial year 2021-22.

“About 100 people including men, women were provided solar lights, sewing machines and farming tools,” said Dr Jitendra. He further said the department has also started a computer learning course for the boys and girls of the area to enable them to earn their livelihood.
