Kupwara, March 28: To boost the adventure tourism and to channelize the energy of youth in a better way, a trekking programme, namely Kishenganga Trek was organised by Jammu and Kashmir Forest Department(FD), Kahmil Forest Division, in Karnah subdivision of Kupwara district.
The trekkers, both professional and new trekkers from Srinagar and other districts including locals participated in the trekking programme from Teetwal to Tangdhar Karnah via Simari.
The daylong trekking programme was inaugurated by DFO Kehmil, M Ayuoob Pandit in presence of Range Officer Tangdhar and other concerned officers.
Speaking at the occasion, the DFO said that the Forest Department has initiated a fresh trekking series with an objective to involve interested youth towards trekking which provides the best opportunity for youth to know about green gold. He also highlighted the benefits of trekking and said that trekking is the best exercise for physical and cardio fitness.
Giving information on the trekking programmes, the DFO said that this was the fourth trekking programme of its kind and the department will arrange more such programmes for the youth, adding that the district Kupwara, especially Kehmil Forest Division has tremendous scope for trekking and adventure tourism.
