Bandipora, March 28: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad Monday chaired a meeting of the District Skill Committee (DSC) to discuss the Skill Development Plan for the district.
The meeting held threadbare discussion with regard to the implementation of skill development programmes in the district and assessed the performance regarding skill development initiatives.
The committee members were apprised of the role of DSC in ensuring quality skill training to the youth by MGN Fellow Bandipora.
The DC on the occasion gave directions to collate demand requirements from respective departments as per job roles. He directed officials to match skill training with the on-ground demand so that locals can not only be trained but given employment as well.
Some key areas of focus were underlined such as solar technician, plastic waste segregation and DTP operator to make Bandipora a beacon of green and digital district.
The DC directed for formulating a comprehensive District Skill Plan by involving different line departments for widening the ambit of Skill Development programme under various schemes to create ample opportunities of employment for the unemployed youth of the district.
He said the focus of Skill Development schemes should be to ensure the creation of a robust skill environment in the district, which will enable the youth to get maximum skilling opportunities and enhanced job opportunities within the district.
Joint Director, Planning, Chief Education Officer, General Manager DIC, District Social Welfare Officer, District Officer and other members attended the meeting.
