Jammu: 25 Mar 2022 :-   Advance Field Veterinary Hospital of Udhampur Sub Area organised a Veterinary Aid and Rural Development Camp at Village Hartayan, Block-Ghordi, District Udhampur (J&K). The camp included free veterinary treatment to the animals, mass deworming, examination of animals for systemic diseases, conduct of minor surgeries, and gynecological examination for pregnancy diagnosis, anti-rabies vaccination of dogs and distribution of feed supplement/ mineral mixture.

The farmers were advised/ educated on scientific aspects of animal management practices to improve the productivity of their livestock. People were also provided with a single window opportunity where they could interact with representatives of District Rural Development Agencies viz departments of agriculture, horticulture, sheep husbandry and rural development banks and gained information about various schemes run by these agencies. Besides animal owners from village Hartayan, a lot of farmers and Bakarwals from the nearby villages also visited the camp and got benefitted.

A large number of cases suffering from minor ailments like anorexia, fever, parasitic infestation, minor injuries, infertility, repeat breeders and other chronic systemic disease conditions were attended and provided advanced veterinary care. Approx 2900 animals including cows, buffaloes, sheep, goats, dogs, ponies, mules and poultry were treated at the camp site. The camp achieved the aim of rendering treatment to sick animals at their door steps and professional advice on various aspects of animal health management to needy farmers. Villagers were very appreciative of the efforts made by Army.
