Budgam, March 22: The District Administration Budgam has started a two months skill development workshop for 30 tribal embroidery Artisans of Lanilab area of the district with an aim to up-skill the artisans to make them fully aware of changing market requirements.
The program was inaugurated by District Development Commissioner (DDC) Budgam, Shahbaz Ahmed Mirza at NIFT Campus, Rangreth.
Appreciating the efforts of NIFT Srinagar, the DDC stressed on the need for development of skills to meet the requirements of the market. He impressed upon the participants to take full benefit of the training program and imbibe the skills for product diversification in embroidery.
Further, the DDC directed officials from District Administration Budgam to provide all possible support to trainees in order to achieve the objectives of the program.
Explaining objectives and benefits of the training program, Dr. Javid Ahmad Wani, Director NIFT Srinagar assured all possible support to enrolled trainees in the form of available lab infrastructure and highly qualified faculty/designers.
Besides acquiring new skill sets, the participants shall be imparted training for trend spotting, design diversification, marketing of products and other potential areas of handicrafts – said Dr. Wani.
The program shall be held at NIFT campus Rangreth as well as Craft Cluster, Lanilab, Budgam in a phased manner in March-April, 2022.
