Leh, Mar 10: The Administration of UT Ladakh signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Broadcast Engineering Consultant India Ltd. (BECIL) to set up a community radio network in Ladakh in New Delhi.
Secretary, Information Technology Department, Saugat Biswas and Chairman & Managing Director, BECIL, George Kuruvilla, signed the MoU in the presence of the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, RK Mathur.
Two main studios and 29 Relay Centers will be established in Leh and Kargil.
The community radio network will be spread in Ladakh over 6,000 sq km to provide a communication network for educational purposes and its utilisation in case of a natural disaster.
Commissioner/ Secretary, School Education Department, Ladakh, Ajeet Kumar Sahu; AGM, BECIL, Khuswinder Singh Bhatia and IT Consultant, IT Department, Ladakh, Kumar Amit participated in the event.
