Mansar / Jammu Mar 08 :- While vouching case for preserving and projecting Mansar as an exquisite tourist destination, a memoir and chronological emblem of Pandava history, Mr. Ranbir Singh Pathania, spokesperson J & K BJP, was addressing a series of booth level meetings at Battal, Sui, Mansar, Chani, Parthedi. He said that steps need to be taken despite sanctioning of major taskforce scheme to supply drinking water to the villages in and around Mansar. He said that level of water in lake is shrinking day in and day out. We need to devise out a quick action plan to revive the water levels and conserve flora and fauna around the historical lake. Despite repeated demands and urgencies shown by various pressure groups, master plan of Mansar and Surinsar lakes is yet to be finalized and notified as yet. This is creating various local issues every now and then.
He called for a greater civilian initiative for saving the fast-deteriorating Mansar lake. Addressing people living around the lake, he sought to aware the people over continuously receeding water level of Mansar and increasing contamination threatening the flora and fauna. Unplanned construction and incessant deforestation around the lake have threatened the very sustainability of the lake which possesses immense historic, religious, aesthetic, scientific, research-driven and scientific importance significance. Mr Pathania added and appealed people to shift the cremation ground from the banks of Mansar lake.
