Jammu, February 26: Rajouri and Akhnoor Towns have been declared as ODF+ town after taking in account the public feedback sought by respective municipal bodies as per guidelines issued by Swachh Bharat Mission, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.
Objections and feedback were sought from the citizens of the twin Municipal areas within 15 days from the date of issuance of the notification.
The Feedback and objections received during this period were taken into consideration and all necessary improvements were being made on the ground. Thus, the Municipal Council Rajouri and Municipal Committee Akhnoor declared themselves as the ODF+ towns.
Henceforth, Open defecation, open urination, and unauthorised dumping of sewerage in open areas, drains and water bodies is a punishable offence.
The MCs will be authorized to recover a penalty of INR 200 for open defecation, INR 100 for open urination and INR 500 for unauthorized dumping of sewerage in open areas, drains and water bodies.
