39931 children below 5 year to get plus polio vaccine in Kishtwar district

Kishtwar, February 25: The District Administration Kishtwar has made elaborate arrangements to meet the target of covering 39931 below 5 year children under pulse polio immunization program.

In this regard, Deputy Commissioner Ashok Sharma today chaired a meeting of District Task Force for Pulse Polio Immunization here at VC room of New DC office Kishtwar.

During the meeting a detailed review of preparatory measures  was taken by the DC. The meeting was informed that the (IPPI) program is scheduled on February 27 during which pulse polio drops will be administered to children in the 0-5 year age group. In Kishtwar district a total of 39931 children below 5 year age would  be administered polio vaccine in the district.

The Chief Medical Officer informed the meeting that 368 vaccination booths have been set up in the district. He further informed that 1472 workers and 74 supervisors have been deputed for ensuring absolute coverage.

Apart from all the hospitals in the district, the vaccine will be made available at primary health centres, Anganwari and sub-centres.

The CMO said that on the first day, children will be administered vaccination at booth level and on the second and third day door to door vaccination drives shall be conducted to cover the left out children of the district.

The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned officers from the Health, Rural Developmental, Education and ICDS Departments to work in a mission mode to ensure the 100% coverage of the children.

Besides, the CMO Kishtwar was directed to ensure that the surveillance of the COVID Vaccination and tuberculosis patients are also carried out during the 2 days door to door IPPI vaccination drive across the district.

The meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner Kishtwar Sham Lal, Chief Medical Officer, Dr R S Manhas, Medical superintendent, Dr. Parveez Iqbal Wani,District Immunization Officer Kishtwar Dr Chander Prakash besides representatives of concerned departments.
