Samba, February 23, 2022: Apni Party Provincial President Jammu Manjit Singh has urged Govt to adopt a policy to fight against the increasing drug addiction which has consumed many young lives.

Addressing a public meeting in Samba, Manjit Singh said that the families have been destroyed with the drug addiction and the authorities which are responsible to control the menace have failed completely.

He said that “The drugs are being smuggled from different parts of the neighbouring state into J&K via various means but the authorities have no clue about it.”

He said that the Govt must tighten its grip on the officials who remain posted for a long time in such departments which are authorized to control the menace of drug addiction.

“We apprehend the role of such officials in view of the present scenario of drug addiction which has destroyed our future generation,” he said.

He said that the Govt should help the de-addiction centres being run across J&K and help the families in distress due to the financial crises which finally leads their youth towards drug smuggling in a bid to earn easy money.

“There is a need to put an end to the smuggling and catch their chain and main supplier. The anti-national elements are also taking advantage of the situation and it is highly objectionable and creates a serious security issue for the nation being a border region,” he said.

He demanded a coordinated effort from the Govt of India to control the spread of the drug addiction and its smuggling even in far-flung villages of J&K.

“We have witnessed families lose their loved ones due to drug addiction but the authorities are watching the situation helplessly despite knowing about the possible links of main suppliers,” he said.

He questioned why the anti-narcotic agencies have failed to apprehend the main link responsible for supplying banned drugs.

He however appealed to the families and the society to come out and motivate their youth towards the right direction.
