Leh, Feb 14: The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, RK Mathur, today called on Hon’ble Minister of State (MoS), Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Dr Jitendra Singh, in New Delhi.
LG Mathur discussed various topics and issues with MoS Dr Jitendra Singh, including technological help from the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) in providing snow cutting and snow sculpting machinery and technology for snow and ice sculptors from Ladakh to promote winter tourism. LG Mathur requested for revenue survey of the entire Ladakh with the help of the Survey of India in addition to helping in the implementation of the SVAMITVA scheme.
LG Mathur informed about the plan for the plantation of sea buckthorn and Sanjeevani from April onwards for commercial purposes. He stated that Sanjeevani is among the high-value medicinal plants that grow above 15,000 ft height in Ladakh.
LG Mathur informed MoS Dr Jitendra Singh about the export of apricots from Ladakh to Dubai. He requested for Gamma irradiation technology from Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) to improve the production of fruits and vegetables in Ladakh. He also briefed about the initiatives taken by the Administration to ensure the good health of goats and their pastures for pashmina wool with the help of CSIR.
LG Mathur also informed MoS Dr Jitendra Singh about the tie-up with CSIR- Central Leather Research Institute Chennai for skill development and opportunities in leather and allied products, and stated that a total of four workshops have been conducted for self-help groups (SHGs) in Leh and Kargil.
LG Mathur also requested for the early consideration of the proposal sent by Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) for amendments in relevant Indian Forest Services (IFoS) rule incorporating seven posts of IFoS for Ladakh.
He also requested for the posting of one IAS officer for Sindhu Infrastructure Development Corporation (SIDCO), particularly for the infrastructure work in Ladakh.
