Anantnag February 07: The Vigilance Awareness Fortnight was today kick started in all community development blocks of Anantnag. Representatives from Rural Development, CAPD, PRIs and members of the civil society were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, ACD Anantnag, Riyaz Ahmad Shah said that the campaign has been kick started today and sensitization camps have been held with concerned stakeholders at the Block level. He said the program is a major initiative and people’s participation will ensure better implementation of the act.
At all locations, an awareness campaign was carried out in the blocks and people were informed about the purpose of the special vigilance fortnight. Besides, information was disseminated regarding Section 29 of the NFSA which provides for formulation and functions of vigilance committees.
The PRIs were directed to complete the formulation of village level vigilance committees. They were also provided the list of beneficiaries in their panchayat halqas with directions to paste the lists at conspicuous places.
The committees will conduct social audit and share their observations regarding implementation of NFSA. This will be completed throughout the district in a span of 15 days as per the calendar issued by CAPD.
Further, sanitization of beneficiary lists, with observations on inclusion and exclusion of beneficiaries will be finalized and forwarded to Block level committees which will submit them to District level committees. The Vigilance level committees will start holding public interactions with people from tomorrow.
