Commissioner Secretary inspects ongoing works on Jambu Zoo Project

Jammu, January 4: Commissioner Forests, Ecology and Environment, Sanjeev Verma, today inspected ongoing works on Jambu Zoo Project.

While inspecting works at entry gate, he asked the Engineering Wing to prepare a chart of activities for its completion before March 2022. He directed the concerned to speed up the work on retaining wall in the under construction parking area.

Commissioner Secretary appreciated the progress on raising enclosures for Marsh Crocodile, Gharial, Lion, Tiger, Leopard Cat, Jungle Cat, Black bear and Sloth bear. He asked to expedite the work on internal road which also involves construction of culvert and retaining walls. He inspected pace of progress on construction of three parks under the project.

Commissioner Secretary trekked the Jambu Zoo Project area including under construction of nature trail being named as “Jambu Dhakki”.

He emphasized proper development of water bodies in the project area besides taking up massive plantation of fruits, shelter trees and climbers during ensuing planting season.

Suresh Kumar Gupta, Chief Wildlife Warden, apprised the Commissioner Secretary of Water Supply and Nature Interpretation Centre saying that estimates and designs for the same have been sent to concerned agencies for vetting which will be put to tendering soon. He also mentioned that after completion of tendering process the said major components shall take about three months for completion.

Commissioner Secretary asked the Chief Wildlife Warden for regular monitoring of the works for expeditious completion of the project.
