20 Handloom Weavers set to benefit from advance skill up-gradation course at Udhampur

Udhampur, January-04:- As many as 20 Handloom weavers of Udhampur are benefiting from an advance skill up-gradation programme organised by Handloom Development Department under SMARTH scheme.

The Forty Five Day long skill up gradation training programme commenced on November 30, 2021 here at Latti. The course has been organized by Handloom Development Department Udhampur in collaboration with Weavers’ Service Centre Srinagar, Ministry of Textile GOI.

According to AD Handloom & Handicraft, N D Verma the main objective of organizing this training by Directorate of Handicrafts and Handloom department Jammu is to provide skill up gradation training to the weavers of all districts of Jammu division to improve their weaving techniques, designs and marketing avenues to enable them to get better returns of their traditional art.

After completion of training programme, the trainee weavers will be provided benefits of the departmental schemes such as credit card scheme, loan for loom and modernization of loom, share capital loan, education scheme and PMWMY.
