Pulwama, December 29: To generate awareness among unorganised, Asha and Anganwadi Workers about the e-SHRAM portal and various schemes of the department, the Labour Department today organized a daylong programme for unorganized workers, here.

The programme was organized under the “Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav” initiative of the government. Deputy Labour Commissioner Kashmir, Ahmed Hussain, was the chief guest on the occasion.

During the programme, it was informed that all unorganised workers, including migrant workers, can now take the benefits of various social security and employment-based schemes through registration on the e-Shram portal.

After registration, the unorganised workers shall receive a digital e-Shram card with a Universal Account Number. This Universal Account Number will be acceptable across the country and they will not be required to register at different places for obtaining social security benefits.

It was also informed that, if a worker registered on the e-Shram portal meets with an accident, he/ she will be eligible for Rs 2 lakh on death or permanent disability and Rs 1 lakh on partial disability.

On the occasion, Hussain detailed the participants about the schemes operated by Department like e-shram, Atal Pension Yojana, Prime Minister’s Shram Yogi Maandhan Yojna and pressed upon all the workers to get themselves registered within the ambit of these schemes, so that the benefits of Social security schemes reach to them timely.

During the programme awareness regarding various labour laws was also shared with participants.

Workers in diverse occupations such as construction, apparel manufacturing, fishing, gig and platform work, street vending, domestic work, agriculture and allied activities and transport sector have registered on the portal, he added.

Among others the camp was attended by ALC, Asha Workers, Anganwadi Workers and other unorganised workers, who were made aware about the e-SHRAM portal and its subsequent benefits.

Later, the Deputy Labour Commissioner Kashmir distributed cheques among the NoKs, people suffering from chronic diseases besides disabled persons.
