Jammu, Dec 22: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Jammu and Kashmir President, Ravinder Raina has urged the people of Jammu to encourage the young artists from various fields in order to keep the rich Dogra heritage alive in all times to come. The BJP President stated this while addressing a gathering during a programme organized by the Bharatiya Jana Yuva Morcha (BJYM) here today to felicitate young artists of Jammu who are playing a significant role in keeping alive the cultural heritage of Dogras in their respective fields be it art, culture or language. Ravinder Raina was the Chief Guest on the occasion while Former Minister Sham Lal Sharma ,Ex MLA R S Pathania,District President Jammu Vinay Gupta and State President BJYM Arun Prabhat graced the simple yet impressive function with their presence.
The BJP J&K President Ravinder Raina asserted that it is the young generation artists on whose shoulders lies the responsibility of preserving the rich Dogra heritage for the progeny. Therefore it becomes our duty to keep encouraging them so that they vigorously pursue the mission with utmost enthusiasm. He said the Dogra cultural heritage is the identity of the people of Jammu and we cannot afford to lose our identity. He appreciated the efforts of the felicitated artists for keeping the Dogra culture alive through their relentless performances at UT, National and International level. Raina said that it was Atal Behari Vajpayee who facilitated the entry of Dogri language in the eighth schedule of the Constitution of India for which full credit goes to him and the party. He asserted that Bharatiya Janata Party will leave no stone unturned in preserving Jammu’s identity i.e. Dogra culture and heritage.
Former Minister and State Vice President BJP Sham Lal Sharma while addressing the gathering on the occasion said that the youth of J&K should ensure substantial participation in the cultural activities to highlight the Dogra tradition and rituals as it will serve as a valuable guide for those watching their performance besides facilitating their advancement towards a brighter future bearing the tag of Dogra identity which is through and through full of rich cultural heritage. He asserted that while BJP stands committed to extend every type of support to the young Dogra artists, at the same time every individual rising above party and other affiliations needs to come forward to encourage the young artists in whatever way they can.
Ex MLA R S Pathania and District President Vinay Gupta in their address on the occasion while congratulating the felicitated artists asked them to disseminate the richness of Dogra culture across the nation and abroad to make the people aware about the niceties of this old yet rich heritage through their performance in various fields including theatre, folk lore and folk music, Dogri songs, literature, etc.They also appealed to the people of Jammu and Kashmir to support and encourage the local rather Dogra artists so that they can also grow and achieve new heights in their respective fields of art and will make every citizen of Jammu and Kashmir feel proud.
State President BJYM Arun Prabhat while addressing the function thanked the BJP State President and other senior party leaders for gracing the function with their august presence and assured them that BJYM being the youth wing of the party will continue to encourage the young artists in future too so that they achieve success in the endeavour to keep the rich Dogra culture and heritage alive.
