Jammu: Splendid knock by Ranjit Singh (54) and some inspired bowling performances from Nitin Thakur, Rahul Khatri saw Media XI Cricket Club, Jammu beat KPPL Warriors by seven wickets in an exhibition match of the ongoing Kashmiri Pandit Premier League – KPPL 2021 being played at KC Sports Stadium Cricket Ground.
KPPL Warriors led by organisers of KPPL, Ankur Bhagati won the toss and decided to bat first. Chander Mohan (27) and Shivam Kaul (25) provided KPPL a decent start but could not capitalise courtesy, disciplined bowling spells by Nitin Thakur (3-0-14-2) and Rahul Khatri (4-0-15-2). Ritik Jotshi (16) and Rohit Handoo (25) took the KPPL Warriors to a respectable 127/6 in the stipulated 20 overs.
In reply, Media XI with the help of Ranjit Singh (54) dominated KPPL bowlers, Ranjit with the help of Anil Choudhary (27) ensured a seven wickets victory for Media Xi with 7 balls to spare. Amit, Sunil and Rahul also chipped in with 12, 13 and 12 runs respectively.
In the post match presentation Mr Vivek Suri, skipper Media XI Cricket Club congratulated the organiser of Kashmiri Pandit Premier League – KPPL 2021 for organising a cricket tournament with state of the art facilities for the youth of J&K who seldom gets a chance to express their talent and potential at such a high level.
Later, the Organising committee adjudged Ranjit Singh from Media XI as player of the Match for his outstanding fifty while chasing the target.
