Poonch, December 14: Field Outreach Bureau, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India, Rajouri today lunched a 2-day Intensive Communication & Outreach Programme on Drug De-Addiction here in Surankote area of Poonch district.

On the first day of the Campaign, a Seminar cum awareness generation programme on Drug De-Addiction was organised at Government Model Boys Higher Secondary School, Surankote.  The Programme was organised under the chairmanship of Jenab Mukhtiyar Ahmed Manhas, Principal of the Institute.

Speaking on this occasion Mukhtiar Ahmed Manhas, Principal of the Institute said the consumption of Narcotics and Drug addiction is spreading in the area which is a cause of concern.  He was of the view that such type of awareness programmes will spread the awareness of Drug De-addiction and will motivate the youth to understand thir rights and duties to curb the menace of Drug Addiction.

Gurnam Singh, I/C Field Outreach Bureau, while welcoming the dignitaries and guests highlighted the importance of such programmes and requested the participants to act as ambassadors to spread awareness of ill effects of Drug addiction in their villages and area.

Sunil Kumar Sharma who conducted the proceedings of the programme also delivered a keynote address on the subject.

A Seminar cum awareness generation session was organised for the students of the institute in which about 10 students of the Institute participated and expressed their views on Drug De-addiction.

The second event of the daylong programme was a Quiz contest based on the theme in which about 25 students of the Institute participated.  The questions related to the subject were put to participants to enhance their knowledge about various aspects and provisions of Drug De-Addiction.

Printed Flexes were also placed at prominent places of Surankote to aware masses about the ill effects of Drug Addictions.
