Bandipora, December 10: SAKHI – One Stop Center Bandipora in collaboration with District Legal Service Authority (DLSA) Bandipora today conducted a daylong awareness cum orientation programme in Bandipora regarding ‘Rights of Women’.

A good number of participants from various departments  including Education, ICDS, Health, DLSA members and other sectoral officials participated in the event.

On the occasion, the audience was informed about legal and Islamic rights of women. Mehnaza Rasool, Case Worker OSC Bandipora in her welcome address highlighted the need to be aware of various women centric laws and regulations.

Psycho- Social Counsellor, Afshana Hassan highlighted the ‘Role of Women in Islam’ and Para-legal Personnel OSC Bandipora, Adv. Abdul Rashid Khan awared the Women folk about their legal rights and gave a detailed awareness about the legal status of women.

Jameela Akhter, Case Worker OSC Bandipora put her views regarding Women Empowerment. While Baseera Rafiqi, Women Welfare Officer, Mahila Sakhti Kendra (MSK) Bandipora elaborated the Women rights and awared the participants about various women centric schemes of the government.

Speaking on the occasion,  Center Administrator, SAKHI Bandipora,  Ishrat Ayoub informed the participants about the need to break their silence. She said ‘One Stop Center is a centrally sponsored scheme committed to safeguard women folk from any kind of violence’.

She  said that emergency response and medical assistance are being provided free of cost to women and girls affected by any kind of violence. The One Stop Center also provides temporary shelter to women and girls who are victims of violence and  provides police assistance, legal aid and counseling to women affected from violence, She added.

Ishrat said, it is a centre with many purposes, providing various facilities under one roof. She urged  participants to come forward in case of any violence or forced issues.

In the concluding session Ishrat also presented a warm vote of thanks to all the guests, and District Administration Bandipora for support and coordination.
